Executive Summary

P&G global diversity appointment: Linda Clement-Holmes named senior VP of global diversity and global business services, effective Feb. 1. The 27-year Procter & Gamble veteran will maintain her existing global business services tasks, but will have added duties as a global diversity leader, the firm says in a Jan. 15 release. In her new post, she will report to P&G President and CEO Bob McDonald and Global Human Resources Officer Moheet Nagrath, in addition to continuing to report to Filippo Passerini, president of global business services and chief information officer. "This appointment is a clear sign of the Company's continued commitment to diversity and inclusion," McDonald says. Veteran chief legal officer steps down: Effective Sept. 30, Chief Legal Officer Steve Jemison will retire after 29 years with the company, but will serve until that time as an officer on special assignment reporting to McDonald. Jemison has been "an exceptional leader and attorney," McDonald says, in part by "demonstrating remarkable capability" in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as "helping to guide P&G's beauty business through a rapid decade of growth that included numerous acquisitions and divestitures." He will be replaced by Deborah Platt Majoras, named chief legal officer and secretary from her current position as senior VP and general counsel. That appointment is effective Feb. 1. McDonald says Majoras is the "right attorney and the right leader to guide P&G legal into the future," calling her "one of the world's pre-eminent global competition lawyers," who helped create "a world-class compliance program" while at P&G. Prior to joining the firm, Majoras served as chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (1"The Tan Sheet" March 3, 2008)
