Colgate-Palmolive: Colgate Total marketer launches Oral Health Month in conjunction with Hispanic Dental Association in effort to educate Hispanic community about proper oral care through bilingual education materials and activities, company announces June 1. From now until June 30, campaign will target Hispanic community with oral-health education and dental screenings via mobile dental vans. The Hispanic population, which has become the largest minority group in the U.S., is fueling an increase in oral health-care demand, yet, along with other minorities, bear a disproportionate burden of oral disease in the U.S., Colgate says, quoting a recent report from U.S. Surgeon General. "Due to language barriers, lack of familiarity and low dental insurance coverage levels, our Latino population continues to experience difficulty in accessing oral health-care services and education," says firm. Colgate's Oral Health Month is an annual program, and, alongside the firm's "Bright Smiles, Bright Futures" education effort and the "Colgate Family Promise" movement, is trying to improve oral care in the U.S.
