Executive Summary
Sustainability leaders will meet in Paris Oct. 18-20 for summit organized by Organic Monitor to discuss the environmental and social effects of beauty products. According to a July 2 release, the summit will include workshops on green formulations and sustainable packaging. The "Green Formulations" session will feature update on natural and organic cosmetic standards in Europe, including COSMOS and NaTrue, and Judi Beerling, head of technical research at Organic Monitor, will discuss paraben-free preservative systems and highlight the formulation and technical issues involved. In the "Sustainable Packaging" session, Aveda's John Delfausse will share some of the brand's pioneering packaging initiatives. Owned by The Estee Lauder Companies, Aveda is the world's largest user of post-consumer grind packaging in the beauty industry. Other sessions include "Lowering Environmental Impacts" and "Marketing and Distribution Innovations.
