The CIR Expert Panel released its draft list of 22 cosmetic ingredients/ingredient groups targeted for review in 2015, all low-hazard substances according to the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep website. CIR introduced the draft roster ahead of schedule to allow more time for public input, and will issue a final priority list in June.
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel has reviewed the safety of nearly half of all ingredients in use in cosmetic products, CIR Director Alan Andersen said during the group’s December meeting.
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review maintains its current safety assessment approach, selecting ingredients with the highest reported uses for its 2013 draft priority list. The list is open for public comment, and will be finalized at the CIR Expert Panel’s September meeting.
