Executive Summary
"Natural" hair relaxer: Green-Wonders Naturalaxer Kit-In-A-Jar relaxes hair naturally with shea butter, vitamins, minerals and amino acids, raising the alkalinity (pH) of hair to soften and loosen curls, ethnic hair-care company Green-Wonders announces Sept. 14. Product, made with 92% to 98% natural ingredients, is unique as most relaxers on the market rely on synthetics such as sodium hydroxide to break the bonds of hair, according to Green-Wonders. The line was developed over a 15-year period by beauty expert and hair-care professional Angela de Joseph, who previously worked for Johnson Products Company's Ultra Sheen and Afro Sheen brands. She says she saw a need for a natural relaxer "after seeing too many black women with hair and scalp damage from chemical hair relaxers." The Naturalaxerkit, which relaxes hair for about a month, contains one application of relaxer, as well as shampoo, conditioner and blow dry oil. It can be purchased at Green-wonders.com and Naturalaxer.com for $29.99
