Nanoforms of UV filters titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are safe in concentrations up to 25% when used in traditional sunscreen applications, but their safety cannot be affirmed in spray or powder sunscreens, according to the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety. The SCCS also issues opinions on other UV filters.
