EPA Initiates Comment Period For High-Volume Chemical Tests

The Environmental Protection Agency is amending its high production volume chemical testing program with a 90-day review period to offer industry an opportunity to comment on toxicity test plans and summaries for chemicals before testing commences. The review period was announced at an EPA "stakeholders" meeting in Washington D.C. July 27.

EPA Chemical Program Should Be Referred To ICCVAM, House Letter Says

The Environmental Protection Agency's high production volume chemicals testing program should be referred "immediately" to ICCVAM "to find suitable alternatives to animal tests," a group of eight House members state in a March 8 letter to the agency. The Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee for the Validation of Alternative Methods is an independent group under the National Institutes of Health responsible for finding alternative methods to animal testing.
