Executive Summary
Pharmacy chain plans to add consumer goods such as cosmetics, vitamins, OTCs drugs, school supplies, batteries and camera film to online offerings with the expansion of its Web site in the coming months. The retailer, which currently offers only Rx drugs on its site, also is working on a major expansion of its bricks-and-mortar locations with 450 new stores expected to open this fiscal year. According to Walgreens, the delayed opening of the Web site is attributed to distribution glitches; the company plans to use its existing facilities to handle distribution. Rival Phar Mor recently launched PharMore.com under an agreement with more.com (1see story, p. 9)
