Johnson & Johnson's U.S. skin care sales advanced 20.7% to $239 mil. on a reported basis during the third quarter, fueled in part by the performance of Neutrogena Advanced Solutions skin care, the firm said during an Oct. 12 earnings call. Skin care revenues also were boosted by products launched during the first half of the year under J&J's other skin care brands including RoC , Aveeno and Clean & Clear , the firm noted. International skin care sales advanced 21% to $270 mil. on a reported basis, largely due to the relaunch of the RoC Retinol Gold brand in Europe. Worldwide, skin care sales on a reported basis increased 20.9% to $509 mil., according to J&J. The Baby and Kids' care division also turned in strong results, with U.S. sales up 8.5% to $89 mil. in the third quarter on a reported basis. The business benefited from sales of the Johnson's brand's first products targeted to adults, Softlotion and Softwash , as well as Johnson's Nourishing Milk Bath and Milk Lotion products. Outside the U.S., revenues for the Baby and Kids' care division advanced 7.5% to $273 mil. on a reported basis, with worldwide sales increasing 7.1% to $361 mil., according to J&J. Sales of the U.S. Consumer Products segment gained 4% in the quarter to $1.02 bil., while international sales grew 16.8% to $1 bil., including the benefit of currency. Consolidated consumer products revenues advanced 9.9% to $2.02 bil., including a 2.5% benefit from currency translation. Consolidated earnings were up 13% to $2.3 bil. Separately, J&J announced it has completed the acquisition of Biapharm, a French producer and marketer of skin care products centered on the leading brand Biafine , a popular skin healing brand in France, according to the company.
