Clarins has retooled its color cosmetics line for spring, focusing on "highlighting and enhancing, enchanting and savoring beauty," the French cosmetics firm says. The revamp will include new packaging as well as new products and formulations, rolling out in February. The colors in the reformulated range draw on "softly shimmering" pastels, pinks and peaches in order to illuminate the face "with the beautiful first light of this awakening season," Clarins says. Three new items will join Clarins' Instant Light stable. The light-deflecting pigments in the line help reduce the appearance of fatigue, the company says. Among the newcomers, the Instant Light Complexion Perfector evens skin tone for a flawless complexion, Clarins says. It can be worn underneath foundation or alone. Bowing in shades of Rose Shimmer and Apricot Shimmer, the Instant Light Natural Lip Plumper provides shine to lips while making them look fuller, according to Clarins. Finally, Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base smoothes and evens out the eyelid area in order to provide a base for makeup. Instant Light debuted in fall 2003 with the Instant Light Perfecting Touch concealer (1 (Also see "Clarins Super Restorative Serum Debuts With Brand’s Highest Price Point" - HBW Insight, 16 Jun, 2003.), p. 11). This spring, Clarins will also present a range of newly packaged oval compacts of white gold and transparent red with the Clarins logo on the lid. Each compact is enclosed in a red velvet pouch. Color Quartet for Eyes offers four "velvety" shades for adding depth and definition. The colors can be worn alone or in combination, Clarins says. Consumers can choose from three quartets, each priced at $38: Celestial, Wood and Ocean. Multi-Blush Cream Compact, a powder blush in Tender Raspberry, Tender Litchi and Tender Apricot, "gives skin a fresh, radiant glow," the firm says. The compacts will retail for $25. Clarins is introducing six tones of "ultra-fine, silky" powder blush: Sienna, Rose, Toffee, Coral, Rosewood and Nude Pink. The powder, which will retail for $26, "keeps skin hydrated and comfortable throughout the day," the firm says. Also for the face, the Bronzing Duo ($34) combines two powder bronzers that can be used together or one at a time. The duo joins three new shades of bronzing powder - Morning Sun, Golden Sun and Copper Sun - that deliver "natural-looking, sun-kissed color in an instant," Clarins says. The powders are each $34. The "ultra-light, atomized" Compact Powder refreshes the complexion and minimizes the appearance of imperfections. It will be available for $29 in Ivory Beige, Natural Beige, Sandy Beige and Honey Beige shades. A half-dozen "professional-quality" makeup brushes will complement the new color cosmetics. The brushes - for applying powder, foundation, blush or eye shadow, or to define the eyes or lips - will be priced at $20-$35. Clarins has a full launch schedule for spring 2007. A new product that protects the skin from electromagnetic waves, Expertise 3P , is also slated to debut in February (2 (Also see "Clarins Emphasizes Total Pollution Protection With Expertise 3P Launch" - HBW Insight, 20 Nov, 2006.), p. 4). The company last refreshed its skincare offerings this past February with the introduction of reformulated and new sun protection products, including Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Contour Cream SPF 30, touted as the "first cosmetic sunglasses" for eyes. The company also unveiled a Lip Color Tint designed to add dimension to lips (3 (Also see "Clarins Updates Sun Care Items, Unveils Lip Colour Tint" - HBW Insight, 13 Feb, 2006.), p. 6). - Molly Laas |
