Clarins mourns founder: Jacques Courtin-Clarins, supervisory board chairman for Clarins Groupe, passed away March 22 at his home in Neuilly-sur-Seine, outside of Paris, company reports. Courtin-Clarins founded the Clarins company in 1954 with the opening of Institut Clarins in Paris. In 1957, he developed a new approach to face and body care with the creation of a small range of high-quality 100% pure plant extract essential oils; by 1960 almost 100 beauty centers in Europe were using Clarins products, firm says. "Groundbreaking innovations in the realm of beauty" credited to Courtin-Clarins include anti-aging skin-care products, effective UV filters and anti-pollution protection.... Clarins appoints successor: Serge Rosinoer will succeed Courtin-Clarins as chair of the company's supervisory board, firm announces March 28. Rosinoer joined Clarins in 1978 from Max Factor, where he served as chairman and CEO-France before advancing to the position of CEO for Europe. At Clarins he acted first as vice chairman and CEO before being appointed chairman of the management board in 1998. In 2000, he became a member of the supervisory board.
