Executive Summary
Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) honors most innovative beauty products of the year at May 2 event in New York. Roughly 600 personal-care products from 280 different brands were nominated to vie for awards in 27 categories. In Facial Skin Care division, awards for top anti-aging products in mass and prestige markets went to Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream and Shiseido Cosmetics' Bio-Performance Intensive Skin Corrective Program, respectively. Best Men's Scent wasBond No. 9 New York Andy Warhol Silver Factory; Women's Scent winner was Marc Jacobs Fragrances' Daisy Marc Jacobs. Natural skin-care marketer Clark's Botanicals and bettybeauty, creators of betty "color for the hair down there," shared CEW's Indie Award. Betty, specially formulated hair dye in colors ranging from blond to hot pink, was developed by entrepreneur Nancy Jarecki for women who want to "match [their] hair color from head to toe ... cover aging and embarrassing grays or just experiment and have fun." The EU Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety committee takes a compromise position with regards to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive. Medicines and medical devices should be exempt, but only until 2035, at which point the European Commission should check whether the development of materials and the recycling process have progressed, and may adjust this exemption accordingly.
