P&G shuffles management : Ed Shirley, currently group president of Procter & Gamble's North America business, has been made vice chair of global beauty & grooming, effective July 1. He will report to Susan E. Arnold, president-global business units. "Ed is the right leader to accelerate the long-term growth of P&G's beauty and grooming businesses," says A.G. Lafley, CEO and chairman of the board, who cites Shirley's track record of leadership and experience in general management, finance, marketing, supply chain management and sales. "He'll bring a 'fresh lens' to help identify new opportunities and connections for consumer delight and customer business growth," Lafley notes. Shirley's former post will be assumed by current President of North America Market Operations Steve Bishop, who will report to Werner Geissler, vice chair of global operations. MAC: Estee Lauder brand announces two promotions - Nick Gavrelis to VP-global product development, face and PRO, and Guillaume Jesel to senior VP-global marketing. Formerly executive director of global product development for MAC face and PRO, Gavrelis "will continue to lead product development in the growth and strategic portfolio development of MAC foundations, concealers and powders, and further expand MAC PRO products and services, artistry tools and brushes," reporting to Jennifer Balbier, senior VP-product development, MAC worldwide, firm says. The new VP returned to MAC in 2001 after leaving in 1999 to launch "specialty niche color cosmetic line" Pretty Pretty. Clarins: Joli Rouge lipstick "delivers intense, shiny, long-wearing lip color" with ingredient Maxi Lip Complex, which "replenishes, repairs and protects" lips, Clarins says.
