Verikira Naturals: Eden Prairie, Minn. company introduces Female Balance Wild Yam Crème as natural alternative to "gimmicky pills or prescription drugs" for balancing emotions and hormones. Paraben-free, vegan-certified and formulated with 81% organic content, Wild Yam "has been attributed to aiding in overall female care and has been used for menstrual cramps or pain, menopausal symptoms, rheumatic conditions and gallbladder complaints," according to Sept. 10 notice. Firm recommends use two weeks prior to menstruation for balancing progesterone and estrogen levels. Other ingredients include clary sage, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang, neroli, geranium, lavender, jojoba, avocado and grapeseed. Crème costs $30 for 4.5 oz.

CVS unveils skin-care device: CVS/pharmacy is "taking dedication to innovation to the next level" by launching first over-the-counter, FDA-cleared handheld light-emitting diode (LED) device for wrinkle treatment, according to recent press release. OmniLux new-U - $225 in-store and online at 1 www.cvs.com beginning September 19 - works by boosting skin's natural regeneration process via alternating infrared and red light therapy that stimulates collagen deep within skin to treat wrinkles around the eyes and improve skin tone, clarity and elasticity, CVS says. In a clinical study, participants observed a 36% improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, and 70% of participants noticed a visible reduction in crow's feet. CVS beauty advisors have been fully trained on OmniLux new-U and will recommend skincare products to complement the device, company says.
