Symrise has USDA-certified organic fragrances
Ingredient supplier Symrise has been awarded USDA Organic certification for three organic fragrances, and production is beginning now at the firm's New Jersey facilities, according to a March 19 release. The world's fourth-largest fragrances and flavors supplier, Symrise has been on a mission to increase its presence in the U.S. market for organic personal-care ingredients, acquiring Teterboro, New Jersey-based organic and fair-trade fragrance manufacturer Manheimer Fragrances in October 2008 and, before that, the certified-organic AllPlant Essence line from Biggs, Calif.-based Bayliss Ranch (1"The Rose Sheet" Oct. 6, 2008, p. 10). "Organic fragrances and cosmetics constitute a relatively young market in the U.S. We see tremendous opportunities for growth here," says Roberto Ascoli, senior VP of Symrise Scent & Care, Creation & Innovation. "This certification is an important milestone for Symrise and those of its clients that aim to manufacture certified organic perfumes and other cosmetics for the American market.
