Executive Summary
La Prairie: Beiersdorf announces the addition of two new items to its La Prairie luxury skin-care line. Cellular Serum Platinum Rare ($350 for 1 oz.) is a "counterpart serum" to Cellular Cream Platinum Rare, which now comes in a 1-oz. size as well. The serum features colloidal platinum, which maintains skin's electrical balance and strengthens its barrier protection function, "keeping pollutants out and moisture in." Meanwhile skin is firmed and lines smoothed with a sugar polymer ingredient that creates "an imperceptible tensing mesh," and its DNA repair capacity is boosted with Hesperidin Smart Crystals, a delivery system for antioxidant hesperidin. Product also contains resveratrol, malachite, watercress extract, vitamin B3 and kombucha. Advanced Marine Biology Day Cream SPF 30, available in May for $175, contains a proprietary protective acquaculture complex of phytoplankton to protect the skin against UV exposure. The cream contains other algae, kelp and starwort to firm and soothe skin, while moisturizing benefits are awarded by glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, shea butter and sea lavender. La Prairie's Cellular Complex in the product "helps stimulate the skin's natural renewal process," according to the firm. Both new offerings will be available at fine department stores
