Schering-Plough: Firm introduces antioxidant-enriched Coppertone NutraShield With Dual Defense, a line of sunscreens that promotes skin repair, according to May 14 release. Topical antioxidants in the range are specifically formulated not to degrade when exposed to sunlight, making for formulas that reduce free radical formation by 74%, Schering-Plough says. Moreover, in a clinical study NutraShield helped "reduce visible signs of skin aging and improved skin elasticity, texture and clarity" within two weeks in women with signs of premature skin aging due to photo damage. After 12 weeks study participants showed a 20% reduction on average in the appearance of lines and wrinkles, firm says.
