Skarp Laser Razor: The Future, Fantasy or Fraud?

Irvine, California developer of the Skarp laser razor has raised more than $430,000 in capital via Indiegogo crowdfunding after the same campaign was suspended by Kickstarter in October due to lack of a fully functional prototype. The startup maintains that with additional funding, its vision for a fast, waterless shave free from cuts, razor burn, ingrown hairs and other irritation will become a commercial reality by June 2016.

Skarp Laser Razor’s Journey To Market Not Quite Light Speed

Skarp Technologies, which has more than a half-million investor dollars riding on its laser razor, has pushed back its delivery target for the second time to end of 2016, while acknowledging that 2017 may be more realistic. The firm says it’s making “great strides” in the laser and optical fiber’s development, which may resolve weaknesses observed in prototype demos to date, but plenty of questions about the project remain.
