Conclusions on efficacy of Rid pediculicide cannot be drawn from recent in vitro study because University of Miami researchers "completely ignored" directions for use, Bayer says. Study in February Archives of Dermatology reported on kill rates of head lice exposed to cotton disks impregnated with OTC, Rx pediculicides (1"The Tan Sheet" March 4, 2002, p. 10). "Contrary to the method used in the study, Rid must be applied twice in a 10-day period, followed by combing on each occasion," Bayer says.
