Former European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) Director Bertil Heerink appointed secretary general of the European Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association effective Nov. 1. Heerink, a Dutch national, worked as Cefic director of EU government affairs, where he helped revise the European chemical policy and was responsible for industry advocacy activities, Colipa says. Heerink also brings first-hand experience in European institutions to the post, having served as counsellor of the Netherlands permanent representation to the EU and as national expert to the Directorate General Environment, Colipa states. Vanhove headed Colipa for 10 years, joining the association as Secretary General in 1992 after working in the cosmetics industry for 20 years.
