Senate Anti-Meth Caucus

Executive Summary

Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Jim Talent (R-Mo.) are co-chairs of the Senate's new Anti-Meth Caucus, according to an Oct. 7 announcement. The caucus will work with local law enforcement "to push legislation that helps them stay ahead of the meth cooks," Talent says, noting that treatment and prevention will also be targets. Fellow caucus co-chairs are Sens. Joe Biden (D-Del.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa.), Kent Conrad (D- N.D.) and Conrad Burns (R-Mont.). Sens. Talent and Feinstein co-sponsored a federal bill that would place pseudoephedrine, a meth precursor, behind pharmacy counters.
