Executive Summary
Olan Labs has reformulated its Quick & Slick line of nail polish top coats to remove dibutyl phthalate (DBP), which studies have linked to underdeveloped genitals and reprotoxicity in infants (1"The Rose Sheet" Sept. 4, 2006, p. 9). The collection is now DBP-, formaldehyde- and toluene-free, company says. Without the controversial ingredient, which is used as a plasticizer to make polishes more flexible, "the new formulation enables Quick & Slick to dry even faster and [it] has a higher shine than ever before," Olan states in a May 29 release. Last fall, major nail polish players OPI, Orly International and Del Labs, which markets Sally Hansen, removed DBP from their products.
