Adult gummy vitamins: Hero Nutritionals launches Slice of Life, a line of gummy vitamins for adults, in response to a high demand of its Yummi Bears gummy vitamin line for children, the San Clemente, Calif.-based firm says. The line includes five products for "cardiovascular health with metabolism boosts and antioxidants," including a multivitamin with lycopene, vitamin C with pomegranate, CoQ10, B12 and Omega 3, 6 and 9 items, the firm says. Additionally, the new products are gluten- and allergen-free. According to the firm, the products are offered in 60-count bottles and are currently available at Whole Foods stores. The firm says it will begin shipping to other outlets following Expo West, which ended March 15. Hero says the suggested retail prices are $19.99 for the multivitamin with lycopene, $14.99 for vitamin C plus pomegranate, $24.99 for the Omegas, which are fish-free, $34.99 for 100 mg CoQ10 and $24.99 Energy Boost plus B-12. Yummi Bears: All fruit "Gummy bear-type" children's supplement will be added during the next three months to Hero Nutritionals' current offering of Yummi Bears that contain 100 mg of a powdered combination of 10 vegetables and two fruits, the Tustin, Calif. firm says. The new "yummies" will contain 100 mg of fruit powders. A 60-count package of "Yummies" retails between $9.95 and $11.95 in nationwide chain and independent health food stores. Hero acknowledges that the supplements are candy-like; customers consuming large amounts of the current formulation have experienced nothing worse than mild diarrhea from the vegetable powders, according to Hero.
