EWG Celebrates 'National Brazilian Blowout Day' With Plea For Regulatory Reform

California Bill Advances To Ban Cosmetic Ingredients Prohibited In EU, With PCPC’s Backing

The California Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act passed out of the State Assembly Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials on 14 May. A far cry from the original draft of the bill, AB 2762 would ban more than a dozen cosmetic ingredients in California whose use is prohibited already in Europe.

Since 2012 when a House committee held the last cosmetics hearing, industry generally has warmed to – or resigned itself to – legislative proposals to update the cosmetics regulatory system. However, there is still not consensus on the details among big business, SMEs and consumer advocates, all of which will be represented at the Senate HELP Committee’s witness table.
