SSCI Offers Benchmarks As Gatekeepers For Supplements To Reach Retail Shelves

FDA’s GMP final rule set uniform standards to ensure quality throughout manufacturing, packaging, labeling and holding of supplements, but Supplement Safety and Compliance Initiative says manufacturing practices continue to vary widely across the industry and the agency cannot inspect every facility. “FDA can’t solve all our problems. National Standard For Cosmetics Quality Nearing Finish Line With Retailer Buy-In

An ANSI-approved American National Standard for cosmetics quality, which builds on FDA guidance and ISO 22716 for good manufacturing practices, is slated to publish by the end of the 2018 first quarter. Retailers requested the standard, with testing and certification firm NSF International acting as facilitator.
