What’s On German TV This Month? New Ads From Ursapharm, Protina, Medice And Sanofi

Executive Summary

New German television advertisements for OTC medicines and dietary supplements from Ursapharm for Hylo Care, Protina for Basica Direkt, Medice for Dorithricin and Sanofi for Thomapyrin Tension Duo.

Hylo Care Teams Up With Bayern München

URSAPHARM Arzneimittel GMBH has partnered with multiple championship winning local football team Bayern München to raise awareness of the need for proper eye care to promote its Hylo Care eye drops.

Running for over a year now, the partnership has recently been boosted by a new TV spot featuring Bayern München players Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski and Joshua Kimmich, produced by München-based creative agency Brandtouch.

Commenting on the partnership, Ursapharm said that with the campaign it was “sparking off the next stage in its corporate development” and “positioning itself as an innovative player” with “extraordinary potential.”

“At the same time,” it continued, “mutual values such as innovation, tradition and social responsibility make for an ideal brand-fit between the two international giants.”

Ursapharm’s Hylo Care eye drops – which use a combination of hyaluronic acid and dexpanthenol to moisturize the eye surface while helping to regenerate cornea cells – come in a portable bottle containing a minimum of 300 applications.

German Influencer Backs Protina’s Basica Direkt

Protina Pharmazeutische GmbH has a new brand ambassador for its Basica Direkt mineral supplements, Birgit Schrowange.

According to the firm, TV presenter and author Schrowange is a “model for many 60+ women” in Germany, having presented the ‘Extra’ lifestyle program on local channel RTL for over 25 years.

“My tasks are a lot of fun, but sometimes they are really exhausting,” Schrowange posted on her Facebook page earlier this month. “My personal energy secret for endurance is regular de-acidification with Basica.”

Protina’s new TV spot for the product, currently running on major German TV channels, follows Schrowange through a typically busy day and pictures the celebrity taking Basica Direkt to keep her energy up.

The television ad is being supported by print advertising in German lifestyle and trade magazines, as well as window displays in bricks-and-mortar pharmacies.

Basica Direkt works by supplementing the body’s acid balance with organically bound minerals, or citrates. Other products in the Basica range include the soluble Basica Vital, Compact and Instant products.

Medice Shows Off Science In New Ad for Dorithricin

A new scientific study backing up claims for Dorithricin throat capsules is the subject of Medice Arzneimittel Pütter GmbH & Co KG’s new ad for the product.

“Throat pain relieved in just a few minutes? Effective for hours? That doesn’t exist,” insists a woman in the video, who is shown rubbing her sore throat while holding her daughter.

“Yes it does,” a voice-over responds, “Dorithricin – this is shown by a new study.”

The randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled study – published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice in October – investigated the efficacy and safety of combinations of 0.5mg tyrothricin, 1mg benzalkonium chloride, and 1.5mg benzocaine, the ingredients of Medice’s Dorithricin.

The study found that Dorithricin provided a “rapid analgesic effect” and was “effective in relieving both severe throat pain as well as difficulty in swallowing associated with acute pharyngitis.”

“The triple active combination is a suitable treatment option for patients in the self‐management of acute pharyngitis and sore throat,” the authors concluded.

Sanofi’s Thomapyrin Tension Duo Gets TV Campaign

“As a pair stronger, as a pair faster,” is the tagline for Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH’s new TV spot for Thomapyrin Tension Duo, which was switched in Germany last year. (Also see "Sanofi readies Thomapyrin Tension Duo" - HBW Insight, 19 Oct, 2018.)

Sanofi’s ad is straight to the point, based around a pack shot with a voice-over pointing out that the product contains a combination of 400mg ibuprofen and 100mg caffeine.
