S.C. JOHNSON MODIFYING PRINT AD COMPARING OFF! SKINTASTIC TO AVON SKIN-SO-SOFT

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

S.C. JOHNSON MODIFYING PRINT AD COMPARING OFF! SKINTASTIC TO AVON SKIN-SO-SOFT bath oil following the issuance of a preliminary injunction after a June 7 hearing. The ad, which ran in the June 7 issue of Woman's Day, contained a footnote saying that "Avon Skin-So-Soft...is not EPA registered for use as an insect repellent." S.C. Johnson plans to change the print ad by removing the footnote. Avon had alleged in its May 26 complaint that S.C. Johnson was trying to "sabotage" the current launch of its Skin-So-Soft Moisturizing Suncare Mosquito, Flea & Deer Tick Repellent by falsely representing that it is not registered with the EPA and is not as effective as Off! Skintastic.
