OREGON PONDERING 50% RIGID PLASTIC CONTAINER RECYCLING RATE BY 2000 in a bill introduced Feb. 10 by Rep. Lisa Naito (D-Salem) at the request of OSPIRG (Oregon Student Public Interest Research Group). HB 2680 would amend the state's Rigid Plastic Container law by adding a later and more stringent recycling rate to the compliance option that says that "any rigid plastic container sold, offered for sale or used in association with the sale or offer for sale of products in Oregon shall...be made of plastic that is being recycled in Oregon at a rate of 25% by Jan. 1, 1995." The bill would set a 50% rate by Jan. 1, 2000.
