FDA FY 1996 APPROPRIATIONS BILL SENATE FLOOR CONSIDERATION tentatively scheduled for Sept. 18, following approval by the Senate Appropriations Committee Sept. 14 and the Agriculture Subcommittee the previous day. The committee adopted the House-approved flat funding levels for FDA: salaries and expenses would be funded at $917.7 mil. in FY 1996, with $820 mil. to come from direct appropriations. Prescription drug user fees would provide $84.7 mil. of the total, in addition to $13 mil. from fees for inspection of mammography facilities, for a total of $97.7 mil. in user fees. HR 1976 cleared the House floor July 21.
