Executive Summary
RETAILER CUSTOMIZED SERVICES NEEDED TO MEET CHANGING MARKETPLACE, consumer analyst Claes Fornell, University of Michigan, suggested at the Fragrance Foundation's Holiday Countdown 1997 meeting in New York City Dec. 2. A "growing number of consumers" are faced with "severe time constraints for shopping," and therefore, have an "increased need" for customized services that meet personal needs, according to Fornell. The challenge to retailers in this marketplace, then, is to "provide the time-constrained customer with an increasing number of personal services," he said.
