H&BA 1997 RECALLS INCLUDE FOUR CLASS II ACTIONS (may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences) of a total of seven recalls for the calendar year. All four Class II recalls were linked to bacterial contamination. Six of the seven product recalls were published in FDA's weekly "Enforcement Report" in 1997 and all were voluntarily initiated by the companies involved. Two of the seven recalls issued during the year were Class III (no adverse health effects likely).
