Robert Gibralter to VP-global advertising, a newly created post, responsible for all global advertising initiatives. He reports to Senior VP-Global Marketing Lynn Emmolo. Prior to joining Avon, Gibralter was senior VP-international operations at Grey Advertising in New York City. He also held ad positions at Batey Ads, Backer Spielvogel Bates, J. Walter Thompson and DMB&B. Avon announced it will increase its global advertising budget to 3% of total sales by 2000, up from 1.3% of total sales in 1997 ("The Rose Sheet" Nov. 3, 1997, pp. 5-7)
