Executive Summary
Forty-eight percent of U.S. population never or rarely wears sunscreen even though more than 80% participate in physical activity outside each week, according to study sponsored by Men's Health. Only 17% of people surveyed always wear sunscreen when participating in outdoor sports. Reasons given for not using sunscreen included "I sweat it off" (23%), "application is too messy" (16%), "greasiness interferes with my participation in activities" (16%) and "sunscreen products are inconvenient" (22%). Sixty percent underestimated amount of time spent in sun. Conducted by Roper Starch Worldwide, study included national telephone interviews of 1,056 adults over age of 18
