The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel issued a tentative insufficient data report for Ginkgo biloba-derived ingredients at its March 5-6 meeting. The panel’s struggle to map available ingredient information and toxicity data to specific uses in the cosmetics sector signals botanical review challenges that are likely to become only more frequent.
Cosmetic Ingredient Review’s independent experts will continue to mull new safety information for parabens, as well as input from a P&G expert, but the panel is inclined to determine the preservatives safe as used in an assessment that could differ “significantly” from European conclusions.
