CPSC review of petroleum distillates-based cosmetics ingestion data needed -- CTFA.

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

CPSC REVIEW OF PETROLEUM DISTILLATE-BASED COSMETICS INGESTION DATA URGED by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association before the Consumer Product Safety Commission makes final an advance notice of proposed rulemaking proposing that all products containing at least 10% petroleum distillates with a viscosity of less than 100 Saybolt Universal Seconds at 100F use child-resistant packaging (CRP). In Sept. 1 comments to CPSC, CTFA maintains that cosmetics containing petroleum distillates or other hydrocarbons "do not pose an aspiration hazard warranting child-resistant packaging."
