CCA's SHIARA PURCHASE EXPANDS H&BA PORTFOLIO WITH FRAGRANCES under a deal completed March 31, East Rutherford, N.J.-based CCA Industries announced. The acquisition includes manufacturing and distribution rights to Shiara Holdings' Cherry Vanilla, Mandarin Vanilla, Amber Musk and Sunset Cafe women's scents and the Vision fragrance for men, as well as existing inventory worth $1.5 mil. The CCA/Shiara deal does not include the NFL fragrance franchise, which was discontinued. The Shiara fragrance house generated $7 mil. in sales in 1997. CCA reported $38 mil. in revenues in its 1997 fiscal year (ended Nov. 30). Following the sale of the scents, Schaumburg, Ill.-based Shiara has ceased operations. In February, Shiara settled a trademark suit with Revlon under which the company agreed to stop using the Shiara name on fragrance packaging ("The Rose Sheet" Jan. 26, p. 15).
