Executive Summary

Stem Cell Assurance: "One of the first companies to provide adult stem cell collection and banking services to the general adult population," Boca Raton, Fla.-based Stem Cell Assurance introduces anti-aging skin care featuring Mibelle Biochemistry's PhytoCellTec Malus Domestica. According to Mibelle, the liposomal preparation features stem cells extracted from a rare, "ageless" Swiss apple (Uttwiler Spatlauber) and "has been shown to protect skin stem cells and delay the senescence of hair follicles." Stem Cell Assurance's Stem Cellutrition line consists of peptide-enhanced Plant Stem Cell Serum, which achieves the "miracle of creation [in] the birth of smooth, youthful skin," Glycolic Apple Cleanser for "maximizing the tissue's availability to the serum's benefits," and Apple Amber Scrub. The set of three products retails for $175. "With our vast physician network and scientists, we are proud to launch a scientifically based cosmetic formulation based on current research and cutting-edge technology using stem cells," says Director of Medical Alliances Robert Kast. New York company Emerge Labs also uses Mibelle's plant stem cell technology in its $120 Swiss Apple Stem Cell Serum (1"The Rose Sheet" Sept. 28, 2009). Grape stem cells Emerge: New sun-protection cream from Emerge Labs incorporates another Mibelle ingredient - PhytoCellTec Solar Vitis - based on stem cells derived from the Gamay Teinturier Freaux grape. Grape's free-radical-scavenging anthocyanins and other metabolites combat photo-aging by "protect[ing] and maintain[ing] the activity of epidermal stem cells, even in cases of stress induced by UV." Grape Solar Stem Cell Protection Cream with SPF 30 costs $90
